God Is For Me — Why Our Presence as Parents Matters More Than Ever

This afternoon, as I picked up my kids from Bible camp, a simple moment stopped me in my tracks. My four-year-old daughter was quietly singing to herself as we walked hand-in-hand to the car. Her voice was soft, almost a whisper, but as I leaned in, I caught the words:
“God is for me…”
Three little words. But they carried so much weight.
In a world that often feels like it’s spinning faster, growing darker, and moving further from truth, hearing those words from my daughter reminded me of something vital: our kids are listening. They’re learning. They’re absorbing everything around them—even when we don’t realize it.
It’s more important than ever that we keep our children surrounded by the light—by faith, truth, and positive influences. Bible camp didn’t just give her a place to sing and play—it gave her a message she carried home. And that message is powerful: God is for me. That’s identity. That’s strength. That’s the root of confidence and peace in a child’s heart.
As Catholic parents, we’re called not just to protect our kids from the world’s noise but to replace that noise with something better. We’re called to be present. To lead by example. To bring our faith into everyday moments—bedtime prayers, dinnertime blessings, and yes, even the quiet walk from church camp to the car.
Being present doesn’t always mean grand gestures. Sometimes it means just being there, listening, showing up, and letting our children see that faith isn’t a Sunday obligation—it’s a daily anchor.
So let’s keep pouring in the good. Let’s keep planting seeds. Let’s keep walking with them, reminding them—by word and example—that yes, God is for them.
And that we are too.
God Bless,
