WWE Wrestling To the Good Word

This morning brought one of those small but powerful parenting moments—the kind that sneaks up on you when you least expect it.
Our son was in the middle of telling his grandmother all about a dramatic WWE wrestling storyline, complete with heroes, villains, and an over-the-top betrayal. As he wrapped up the twist in the plot, his grandmother simply commented, “Like Judas,” and left it at that. No explanation. No follow-up.
He nodded and went right back to playing.
I almost let it go—but while cooking breakfast, I paused and asked, “Hey buddy, do you know what Grandma meant when she said ‘like Judas’?”
Without missing a beat, he replied, “Yeah—Judas betrayed Jesus. He was one of the disciples.”
Then, just like that, he returned to his action figures and imaginary wrestling ring, unfazed.
It was such a small exchange, but it hit me hard. In the middle of a WWE storyline, our eight-year-old saw the connection between betrayal and Scripture—between the ring and the Gospel.
It’s moments like these that remind me why we work so hard to raise our children in the faith. The prayers, the Bible stories, the Masses, the conversations—they’re not just rituals. They’re roots.
And every now and then, in the most unexpected places, we catch a glimpse of how deep those roots are growing.
God Bless,
